Full-Day Kindergarten

The full-day kindergarten program uses play and discovery/based practices designed to nurture the developmental learning stages of a kindergarten student. In anticipation of the expanded learning in full-day kindergarten, the District curriculum has been revised at all grade levels.

What is play/discovery-based learning?

Play/discovery-based learning is teacher-facilitated and based on essential skills and learning standards. The developmentally-appropriate activities will teach students conflict resolution, social skills, communication, problem solving, and turn taking.

How do students learn in kindergarten?

The interests and natural curiosity of the students drive learning in the kindergarten classroom. However, teacher-facilitated activities assure the kindergarten curriculum and essentials skills are met. You can read more about the essential skills in this PDF

Parent Engagement

Teachers assure parents of kindergarten students are engaged in their child's learning through meet and greets, goal-setting conferences, volunteer opportunities, and through apps that let parents see learning inside the classroom.
