Full-Day Kindergarten

Full-Day Kindergarten Coming for 2018-2019 School Year

Beginning in August 2018, District 146 will be offering full-day kindergarten. The full-day kindergarten program stemmed from community input gathered as part of the District’s strategic plan. The District is very pleased to have worked with community members and families to conceptualize full-day kindergarten to meet the community’s needs.

With the number of full-day students increasing at the elementary level, additional space will be added to each existing elementary building. Construction of the new space, however, will not be finished for the 2018-2019 school year. In the interim, the District has developed plans to temporarily accommodate the full-day program until construction is complete.

The full-day kindergarten program has been designed to nurture the developmental learning stages of a kindergarten student. In anticipation of the expanded learning in full-day kindergarten, the District curriculum has been revised at all grade levels.

If you have questions about your child's possible attendance in a half-day kindergarten program, please contact the District's curriculum department at (708) 614-4500.
